Pool Gates

A pool is something that can be enjoyed by family and friends, and it can be a great investment. When you install a pool, you have a legal obligation to install fencing and gates to limit access and prevent accidental drownings. Australian regulations place onerous requirements on pool fencing and gates. Our Perth Gatemakers team can manufacture and install gates that not only look great, but are compliant with all relevant requirements.

All of our pool gates are made to order at Perth Gatemakers. This means that not only will your finished product be customised to meet your needs, but we will design, manufacture and install your gate to ensure they comply with the relevant legislative requirements as per the BCA. If we install a gate, we guarantee that it will be compliant with regulations, and we’ll ensure your pool area remains safe and secure.

We also manufacture and install pool fencing which will not only match with your pool gate, but will also comply with the legislative requirements for pool fencing.

If you need pool fencing or gates for your property, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information. We’re more than happy to organise for one of our experienced sales staff to visit you on-site and provide you with a no-obligation quote free of charge.

Australian Standard requirements of pool gates include:

  • The bottom horizontal of the gate cannot be more than 100mm from the finished ground level
  • The gate should have a form of self-closing mechanism which ensures the gate locks shut in a prescribed amount of time. NOTE: we highly recommend that a high quality self-closing mechanism should be used when installing semi-frameless and frameless glass gates to ensure the gate meets this requirement. We're happy to advise you on the types of closing mechanisms available

  • The gate must be fitted with a latching device to ensure the gate latch will close unassisted
  • The latch release must be no less that 1500mm from the finished ground level, and at least 1400mm from any bottom horizontal of the gate (i.e. the bottom gate rail)
  • The top of the gate should be no less than 1200mm from the finished ground level. (NOTE: please refer to the relevant BCA for the complete set of requirements. The list above is a practical summation and not a comprehensive list)
